I've always seen spring cleaning as too little, too late. For me, January is when you order, prioritize, and start answering questions for the employee contact list year ahead. That's why I picked January to answer a question you may have had for a long time: what is machine learning? I'm going to answer that question and define some other terms you'll need to know to stay on top of 2017. If you're interested in what business intelligence software can do for you, you need to employee contact list know these basic terms first. . . I put machine learning first because it's one of Gartner 's top ten strategic technology trends for 2017 , but the rest of the entries are listed the employee contact list alphabetically. machine learning Before machine learning, computers had to be told (programmed) how to employee contact list think. With machine learning, computers can (sort of) think for themselves. I recently spoke with Michael Finley, head of machine learning at BI software company AnswerRocket , who helped me elaborate. Before machine learning, most software “worked the way it was programmed: people turned instructions into computer code. And the computer did what that code told it to do.” A very simple example would be a calculator: you fed the numbers to employee contact list the calculator, told it what to do (add, subtract) and the calculator gave you the results. With machine learning, however, software can adapt. Finley continues, “Software with machine learning doesn't do the same thing the day you install it as it does the tenth or hundredth day you run it. » If the values entered in the computer change, the will to these values. A computer with machine learning learns to integrate them. Courtesy of The Awesome Andre Pinto and Anthill Comics Finley characterizes machine learning as software that knows how to employee contact list handle the concept of "likes.
